Day Three: Cheap & Easy & Clean

Day Three: Cheap & Easy & Clean

Friday August 8th 2014 (Day 3)

Today’s Pin is brought to you by  It’s pinned to my “So Fresh & So Clean” Board.

I have been wanting to go chemical free and homemade for a while now.  I really do try to stay as natural as possible, yet for some reason it seems so daunting. Well, I’m here to tell you it’s really not!  I just made a cleaner for my laminate floors in like 2 seconds. I did have to go to Target for supplies – but they will last me seriously forever and they are things I should have in the house anyway.

Here are the directions:
Make Homemade Laminate Floor Cleaner

Here’s all you need. Use a measuring cup or jar and add equal parts:
1)       Water
2)       White Vinegar
3)       70% Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol
To this mixture, add:
4)       Few drops of liquid dish detergent (Make your own dish soap! See instructions below.)

Mix all these ingredients together and pour into a fine mist spray bottle.

Now it doesn’t give a ratio so I did a little research:

I looked up diy floor cleaner on Pinterest and found this Pin:

This recipe is brought to you by EnjoyTheViewBlog :
D-I-Y Floor Cleaner
1 part water
1 part white vinegar
1 part rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
2-3 drops dish soap (I used Dawn)
The isopropyl alcohol was about $2 and the generic white vinegar was about the same.
I used the recipe on my floors, and I am very happy to report another pinterest win!
NO chemicals, cheap & easy!

Final Verdict: Pinterest Win!

Day Two: Crispy Goodness

Day Two: Crispy Goodness

Thursday August 7th 2014 (Day 2)

Pin of the day is “Epic Crispy Quinoa Burgers” pinned from
The Post is about

Epic Crispy Quinoa Burgers Topped with Sweet Potato Fries, Beer Caramelized Onions + Gruyere

However, I only made the burgers. Sorry – I just don’t need fries and beer in my life right now.  But let me tell you – these burgers were pretty delicious. My husband even liked them – and he is far more of a foodie than I am. So here are the deets:
Epic Crispy Quinoa Burgers
Quinoa Burgers
2 cups cooked red quinoa
1 cup cannellini beans, mashed
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 clove garlic, grated
1 teaspoon chipotle chile powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon peper
3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
3 tablespoons olive oil
I highly recommend you check out the whole shabang though, at, and get your cheat meal on.  Looks totally worth it.

Final Verdict: Pinterest Win! Yay!

Day 1: Just Foilin’ Around

Wednesday August 6th 2014 (Day 1)

Pinterest Status:

I’ts official. I’m a Pinner. Everyday I’m pinning it, but what am I waiting for?  Nothing. Today is the first day of the rest of my Very Pinteresting Life.  Today I begin, to do 1 pin a day, everyday, and tell you about it.

So where to begin?

If you follow me (Franny’s Pinterest) then you know I’m on here A LOT. And it’s not like I haven’t tried some of my pins, because, I have. However, I’m tired of procrastination and fantasizing about my perfectly organized closet, some vegan-low-cal -no-fat-gf-pumpkin-whatevers, and those Anthro knock off candlesticks. Carpe Diem.

I am deciding to start small, and keep momentum going.  I do not feel like cooking or making a mess today, so I am going to my So Fresh & So Clean board for some ideas.

Here we go. Doesn’t get much simpler than this one. Aluminum Foil as Dryer Sheet.

The Pin takes us to Budget Savy Diva’s Blog!

Aluminum Foil as Dryer Sheet!

This is one of my best Budget Savvy tip – you do not need to spend one more cent on dryer sheets. All you have to do is take aluminum foil, ball it up, and place it in the dryer  with wet clothes.

It will remove static + it does NOT    need to be changed each time.

Make sure it is about the size above and ball it up tightly .

You can use the same ball for 6 months!!!!”

I will be trying this tonight. Stay posted for results. I promise some of the other pins will be more interesting.

The foil worked great on Cotton.  It really made my clothes dry faster since my dryer is a little old and can take a while. HOWEVER, when I used it with my active-wear, it left little BURNT SPOTS on some of them. Yup. Not happy.  So go for it if you want to use only with cotton, but I’ll stick to my dryer sheets. Still cheaper than replacing any Lululemons!  (NOTE: no Lululemons were harmed during this experiment – only Target brand active-wear was used)

Final Verdict: Pinterest Fail.
